Dance Contest

On Friday night we took the kids to a free concert held by our Township at a local park. It said the band played 'groove' music, which I thought the kids might enjoy, but after two songs, they prefered to go play at the playground instead. When we were getting ready to pack up and go home, the band announced that they were going to have a dance contest for a chance to win a gift certificate to a local music store. We asked the kids if any of them wanted to go dance, and surprisingly, Adalia said she would go dance with Daddy. So Mike took her up to the contest first where they did a conga line to warm up. Micah quickly decided to run after them, so he joined in too. Gabriel didn't want to dance, so I stayed with him and Josiah to watch. After the warm up, they told everyone that they had to do a funny dance and the audience's applause would be the judge of who won. Adalia kind of froze up a bit during this part, but Micah had a blast dancing his funny dance especially with Daddy 'helping' him by swinging him around in the air. After everyone did their dance they went through and had everyone tell their names and had the audience cheer for who they liked best. They narrowed it down to two finalists out of about 20 people and Micah was one of them! The other lady didn't really stand a chance against a cute 3 year old who doesn't mind dancing in front of a crowd of people and a Daddy who could help him out when he stopped on his own. So, Micah won his first dance contest and we will take him to the music store to pick something out (and maybe something for Daddy too :) )! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures (although many other people we don't know do) since I didn't think to take any with my phone while holding Josiah and keeping an eye on Gabriel and watching the others dance. But if you've ever seen Micah dance at all, I'm sure you can use your imagination! After the contest, Gabriel joined in dancing too, and I must say he was hysterical with his funny dances! It would have been a close call I think if he had decided to do the contest too! Now they all keep saying that they want to have a dance party where they can give out prizes. We'll have to see about that....
